Splashy Benefit To Staying At Disney World Hotel
.
It is not a well known fact that you can get complimentary admission to one of the Disney World Water Parks on the day of your check in when you stay at a Disney World Resort Hotel. This benefit must be used on the day of your check-in, it cannot used on any other day during your stay.
There are two Disney World Water Parks, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. Depending on which park is open, you can go directly to the park without checking into your hotel. If you have luggage, take it to the hotel and have them store it for you. There are lockers in the parks, but they cannot store luggage.
Typhoon Lagoon allows you to experience 6-foot swells at North America’s largest wave pool. This feature is the water park’s signature attraction. Want to hang 10 in the wave pool? You can host a private where you and your friends can have the wave pool all to yourself. Experienced surfers can shoot the curl in the wave pool before the park opens or after it closes. The 3-hour session comes packed with 100 waves—broken into sets of 25. During your Private Surf sessions you can even choose the direction of your waves. You can host up to 40 guests including spectators. Disney's Typhoon Lagoon does not provide any boards. Guests can bring surf boards, boogie boards, paddle boards and long boards. Towels will be provided. It can be booked 60 days in advance.
There are many water features for everyone in the family - including an area for kids under 4 feet tall called Ketchakiddee Creek. It has shallow pools, scaled down slides and a small sandy beach.
The other water park is called, Disney's Blizzard Beach. The park's backstory is that a freak snowstorm hit Florida, and made a ski resort. When the snow melted, it became a water park. There is a ski lift, ice caves and Mount Gushmore towers over the park with slides coming down it's slopes. Summit Plummet is one of the tallest, fastest free tall body slides in the world. It is 12 stories straight down a 360 foot-long high speed descent slide where you can't see where you are going until you get there!
This park also has an area for little ones called Tikes Peak. There are mini snow banked slides, a Jr tube ride in a polar-themed area.
My favorite part of this park is the lazy river called, Cross Country Creek. Grabbing a tube later in the day can become a challenge as the park becomes busier. I recommend going to the exit that is right past the sandy beach sitting area near the base of Mount Gushmore. Not many people go there to enter so if someone hops out, you can immediately grab a tube.
The wave pool area gets busy later in the day so I suggest turning right after the lockers when you enter the park to find a lounge chair. Two other tips, the pools are heated at both parks so they are open year round, and parking is free at both water parks, so if you choose to play at one of the parks in the morning, you can leave your car there and take the free bus to one of the amusements parks and not have pay for parking!
